Abstract:
This article details the pervasive anti-Semitic bullying problems in one New York State school district. School officials were accused of ignoring, minimizing, and dismissing the reports of bullying—and even of exacerbating the problem. The victims sued under state and federal law; the ultimate settlement assessed a very large fee on the school, and set out a series of reform measures, which can be used as guidelines for good practice by other school districts. Keywords: Pine Bush, anti-Semitism, bullying, Title VI, Equal Protection Clause, New York Civil Rights Law, anti-bullying policies
