Abstract:
Suspicious folks saw the pre- Oscar “poor Polanski” news stories as a preemptive strike. If the victim hadn’t published her “judge-him on his-artistic-talent-only” op-ed and appeared on Larry King Live to tell the world how she forgave him, the public might have had a voice in expressing the inappropriateness of celebrating the accomplishments of a child rapist who fled the country because he thought he was too important to go to prison for his crime. This article discusses the case and surrounding issues. Keywords: aggravated rather than statutory rape
