Abstract:

Our case summaries this issue review six important decisions from Colorado, New York, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas in which abusers filed defamation suits after their victims went public through newspaper articles, podcasts, social media, other journalistic outlets, and political campaign literature about their experiences as victims of domestic violence. In an emerging area of great significance to victims, courts appear to be siding with defendants (i.e., victims of abuse) in these suits, as the cases in this review illustrate.
