Abstract: 

Between 1,000 to 1,500 murder-suicides occur annually. Murder-suicides are especially likely to occur in the context of domestic violence. This article discusses existing knowledge on the prevalence of domestic-violence-related murder-suicides, their distinctive characteristics, the link between murder-suicide and domestic violence, and some of the legal problems that murder-suicide evokes.
