Abstract:
This special issue of the Domestic Violence Report is the first of two devoted to tribal law. Articles in this issue feature several impressive initiatives that address the alarming rate of domestic violence in tribal communities. These programs include: the expansion of tribal jurisdictional authority represented by the Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction (authorized by VAWA 2013), the implementation of Fatality Review Committees in Indian country, and the development of the tribal Special Assistant United States Attorneys program to prosecute crimes on tribal lands.Keywords: Tribal Law and Domestic Violence
