Abstract:
Written by the National Indian Country Training Coordinator for the U.S. Department of Justice, this article examines the creation of Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) and their role as liaisons between tribal law enforcement and courts and federal justice department staff in order to improve the effectiveness of efforts to combat and lower the high rates of family and intimate partner violence that afflict American Indian and Alaskan Native communities.Keywords: Tribal Victimization Rates; Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs); Tribal Liaisons
