Abstract:
Crime against people with substantial disabilities is a problem similar to violence against women, elder abuse, and child abuse, but remains largely invisible and unaddressed. Studies consistently show that the level of violent and other major crimes against children and adults with substantial disabilities is from four to 10 times higher than against the general public. These studies also show that such crimes are reported at a much lower rate and that there are lower rates of prosecution and conviction. Keywords: high rate of victimization of disabled; D.
