Abstract:

This Washington Report column summarizes the actions of the U.S. Congress from May through October 2004 that were related to elder and adult abuse. There was a flurry of activity on some bills as the regular legislative calendar drew to a close in October, but Congress failed to pass the fiscal year 2005 budget. Continuing resolutions are in effect and Congress will return for a lame duck session on November 16, 2004. This Washington Report updates the status of the Elder Justice Act and other bills discussed previously. It will also provide information on government hearings that were held and reports that were issued since the last column was written.
