Abstract:

Concluding a two-year investigation into conditions affecting adults and children with mental disabilities, Mental Disabilities Rights International (MDRI), a Washington-based human rights advocacy agency, released a report documenting its findings. The report, “Behind Closed Doors: Human Rights Abuses in the Psychiatric Facilities, Orphanages, and Rehabilitation Centers of Turkey,” documents egregious violations of human rights and international law in each type of facility. This article summarizes that report.
