Abstract:
One of the primary goals of multidisciplinary teams working with abused, neglected, and exploited elders and adults with disabilities is to ensure that victims are able to access all appropriate, available services. This laudable and seemingly straightforward goal is nevertheless deceptively difficult. Among the problems are those stemming from the fact that two systems abused adults of both genders frequently try to access— the domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA) systems—are actually designed just for women. Keywords: the domestic violence and sexual assault systems designed just for women; gender bias in SA services; ways to counter anti-male bias
