Abstract:
The identification of clients with cooccurring violence perpetration and substance abuse or dependence may result in program and treatment goals that are more complex than traditional treatment goals. Overall treatment planning will have to address both the reduction of violence risk and the reduction of substance use and other related problems. This article reviews the steps a program can take to better screen for, assess, and treat substance abusers with co-occurring domestic violence perpetration. Keywords: cooccuring disorders
