Abstract:

The present piece presents a study on staff burnout among substance abuse treatment staff working in correction-based treatment programs. The study concludes that personal characteristics (e.g., burnout) of counselors are associated with therapeutic relationships, but that burnout might not necessarily be a negative effect. The study design, results, and limitations are discussed.
