Abstract:

In order to better understand the life course of post-incarcerated females, the authors conducted a study of women released in 1995 from the Massachusetts Correctional Institution (MCI) Framingham. This analysis of contemporary Boston-based post-release women builds on Sheldon and Eleanor Glueck’s ground-breaking study, Five Hundred Delinquent Women (1934), which traced the lives of former MCI Framingham female inmates whose paroles expired between 1921 and 1925.
