Abstract:

Encouraged by these positive results from past programs that provided services to parolees, the California State Legislature provided funding in 1998 to expand parole services programs. This funding expansion ensured that over 80% of parole units had access to at least one of six service components, including two employment programs, one multi-modality substance abuse treatment program, one substance education program, one computer assisted math and literacy training program, and one residential multi-services program. Zhang et al. highlight these programs and the benefits that they provide.
