Abstract:

The Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) was developed as a statewide system to assess the risk levels and needs of Ohio offenders in order to improve consistency and facilitate communication across criminal justice agencies. The goal was to develop assessment tools that were predictive of recidivism at multiple points in the criminal justice system. The authors explain the system, its development, and the results of a validation study of the system.
