Abstract: 

This article reviews the empirical studies that have been done on pretrial justice–related topics, as well as two important pieces of legal research. The first paper lays out a contemporary lexicon for pretrial justice and seeks to find a common understanding of key legal concepts and practices, the second discusses a powerful but often neglected player in pretrial decision making: money.
