Abstract:

Braggs v. Dunn, the never-ending federal court challenge to just about every aspect of prison conditions, seems to produce a ruling every week from the indefatigable Judge Myron H. Thompson. There are more lawyers listed as participating than are residents in many a small town. In Braggs, 2019 WL 1978476 (M.D. Ala. May 4), the Judge issued a ruling dealing with suicide prevention. This ruling derives from an Interim Agreement between the parties. It is an exceptionally thorough set of procedures, and administrators will find it serves as a very useful guide to facilities facing, dealing with, or seeking to avoid litigation on custodial suicides.
