Abstract:

Eric Grant was arrested in Tulsa County, Oklahoma in June, 2015 on a non-violent misdemeanor charge of trespassing. When booked into the Tulsa Co. Jail, he was suffering obvious, known and serious mental disorders, including schizophrenia. Grant was housed in a general population cell with Williams, a registered sex offender. Williams began to harass and threaten Grant. Grant’s guardian called the jail to inform officials of the volatile situation. Williams pulled Grant from his bunk and brutally assaulted and raped him. Grant was hospitalized. This §1983 lawsuit followed against security and private provider Armor for its failure to treat.
