Abstract:

The authors of this study set out to determine whether or not the widely used LSI-R provide risk prediction on a jail-based sample. The results presented here suggest that the instrument has predictive validity for the types of highly transient offender populations typically booked into jail and therefore can be a useful instrument for determining who can safely be placed on EM rather than detained in custody.
