Abstract: 

County probation departments monitor repeat DWI/DUI offenders as part of their sentence to probation. Many times, hardcore drunk drivers receive jail sentences and then serve five years county probation. In lieu of the jail time, or as part of a probation sentence, judges mandate electronic monitoring. This article provides a basic profile of what electronic technology is appropriate for the specific characteristics of different types of drunk driving offenders.
