Abstract:
Casinos are uniquely different from a lottery in New York State because casinos comp alcohol to playing patrons. Studies have found that when people start drinking, they tend to gamble until they have lost everything. For those gamblers who have a problem with gambling and alcohol, this poses a real risk. Alcohol is a depressant and can significantly impair judgment. If you are actively drinking, you will be more likely to feel good and have a tendency to spend more money. After spinning the roulette wheel, gamblers may very well turn to spinning the wheel of a car. This article underscores the correlation of alcohol abuse and risky behaviors such as drunk and drowsy driving.Keywords: Pathological Gambling; DSM-IV;
