Abstract:
The population of DUI/DWI offenders presents a wide range individuals presenting varying levels of problems, which contribute to differing probabilities for reoffending. Different interventions are necessary for those who meet diagnostic criteria for alcohol dependence as opposed to those who meet criteria for abuse only or those who receive no formal diagnosis. This study is an extension of prior research published by Couillou et. It explores the feasibility of using a brief structured interview to conduct a preliminary assessment of DUI/DWI offenders for alcohol-use disorders. Its larger sample facilitates comparisons between details of the diagnostic and severity indications for those meeting abuse versus dependence criteria.Keywords: Triage Assessment for Addictive Disorders (TAAD); DSM-IV-TR; DUI/DWI;
