Abstract: 

Mileposts is a regular feature briefly surveying a wide range of topics related to impaired and distracted driving. Discussed in this issue: “The Outlook for Energy: A View to 2040” is ExxonMobil’s long-term global view of energy demand and supply; a very effective anti-texting while driving PSA from Volkswagen in Hong Kong, “Eyes on the Road: Cinema Stunt”; GM CEO Mary Barra’s Congressional testimony; pot legalization and decriminalization trends; GPS-enabled monitoring of teen driving by parents; The chemistry of whiskey—or “brown spirits” presentation at symposium entitled, “Polyphenolic Chemistry in Food Science: Flavor, Color, and Biofunctional Properties”; and Europe’s experience with electronic vehicles.
