Impaired Driving Update

Abstract: 

This installment of Legislative Update covers aggressive, distracted, and impaired driving. This issue summarizes a very busy and extensive legislative calendar with virtually states amending their DUI/DWI statutes in some way, many adding penalties for driving while using smartphones and other devices; increasing the ability of law enforcement to administer onsite drug or alcohol tests on drivers; and the further expansion of ignition interlock usage. Bills covered include those still under active consideration or enacted into law in 2017.
