Abstract: 

Mileposts is our regular briefing on interesting and important news and development in the areas of highway traffic safety and accident prevention, transportation policy, and the recent findings about the effects of substance use and technology on driver behavior and vehicular safety. This issue focuses on a suit by the state of Ohio against five drug companies for abetting the opioid crisis; NY and Vermont law enforcement efforts to combat public intoxication and boating-while-intoxicated (BWI); “step-down” mental health facilities for individuals transitioning from stays in psychiatric hospitals; and the Irish defense bar, which has added a layer of paperwork to law enforcement BAC road tests by requiring results be printed in Irish as well as English.
