Abstract: 

While still a relatively under-researched area of campus violence, hate crimes are a critical safety and climate issue confronting higher education administrators. Colleges and universities, if they have not already done so, should closely examine their academic, employment, and student life policies to ensure that they have incorporated a comprehensive prevention program as well as a clearly defined procedure for responding to hate crimes when they do occur on campus. What follows are suggestions administrators can use to assess campus readiness for proactively combating hate crimes.
