Abstract:

By now it has been well established that college students use alcohol frequently and heavily. The seriousness of alcohol use on college campuses is further aggravated by students’ frequent involvement in binge drinking, i.e., consuming large quantities (usually five or more drinks) of alcohol in any one sitting; at least one-third of college students may be identified as binge drinkers. This article discusses statistics of drinking on college campuses, the problems it causes, and outlines a study done on victimization caused by student drinking.
