Abstract:

In a challenge to the Trump administration’s announcement that it would end Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and begin deportation proceedings against non-citizen residents who arrived in this country as children, the University of California system filed suit to block DHS enforcement of the DACA recision, arguing that the university has invested considerable resources in recruiting students and faculty who are DACA recipients and that these persons have made significant contributions to the university. This article examines the arguments and status of this significant suit, and other similar filings affecting higher education institutions.
