Abstract:

The mandate by the U.S. government to widely adopt a standardized electronic medical record (EMR) began under President George W. Bush in 2005 with the formation of the office of the National Coordinator for Information Technology. The requirements of the Affordable Care Act have continued this efforts, by mandating the adoption of EMRs by 2014. Within correctional health care, the cloud computing model makes tremendous sense as a way to manage a large amount of clinical data.
