Abstract:

The following article is the first in a three-part series on Medical Software on the Web. The articles describe how to use medical software and provide a wealth of information regarding medical software resources, products, and directories that can be either purchased or downloaded from the Web. This topic should be of particular interest to the staff in correctional infirmaries for two reasons: 1) most prisons have limited inhouse medical libraries and references, and 2) physicians who work in the correctional environment may feel some degree of medical/ intellectual isolation compared to those physicians who are hospital-based.
