Abstract:

The goal of health care risk management is to reduce the likelihood that health care errors will occur. In particular it aims to limit errors that can lead to an individual’s damage, discomfort, mental anguish, or disability, as well as to lessen the fi nancial loss that a health care provider might sustain because of such errors. Risk management programs limit these costly mistakes and work with all aspects of an organization to manage risk. This article discusses how an organization’s risk management efforts can improve the quality of health care it provides.
