Abstract:

All of us have taken a chance on something in our lives. Whether it was a career we thought would suit us, the person we thought was right for us, or a brand we’d never heard of, we’ve all taken a roll of the dice. Many of us don’t like facing decisions with unknown outcomes, but some people live for chance. What kind of people will cast their financial fate to the wind, either out of boredom, excitement, or the illusion that they have knowledge that gives them an edge? Such people live to gamble, the sure way of getting nothing from something. 1 Consider the services that gamblers receive in jail or prison, and then consider the help that awaits alcoholics or drug abusers.
