Correctional Health Care Report

Abstract:

One of the most, if not the most, fastest growing industries in corrections today is the inmate medical care profession. Agencies are looking to insulate themselves from the liability and contract out to private companies, local hospitals, or anyone interested in providing health care services to their inmates. Multi-million dollar contracts are awarded to companies to assume the medical operation of the facility. To make sure an agency is getting its money’s worth out of this contract and that the liability interests of the agency are being met, a prudent agency will employ the services of a contract monitor. A contract monitor will ensure that the contracted health care provider is meeting the conditions of the contract and look out for the agency’s best interests.
