Abstract: 

Approximately 2000 females over the age of 18 are processed through the Indiana Women’s Intake (IWI) in 2003. Approximately 400 women are incarcerated at the Indiana Women’s Prison (IWP) at any one time. Approximately 300 females under the age of 19 are incarcerated at the Girl’s School at any one time. Surveys were taken from female offenders from both IWI, IWP, and the Girl’s School to determine what addictive substances they used prior to incarceration.
