Abstract:

The role of a correctional facility dentist has changed. The days of just extracting teeth are long gone. As health care providers we have an obligation to educate, diagnose and treat. Anything less would be considered a disservice to our patients. There are several aspects of dentistry that have to be included in a correctional facility. These aspects include: •Dietary education; •Hygiene education; and •The use of radiographs for diagnosis and treatment options.
