Abstract:

Over the past several years, one would have to have his or her head in the sand not to have seen coverage about preparing for and responding to disasters in the United States. Since the World Trade Center bombings on September 11, 2001, and several subsequent natural disasters, much attention has been given to disaster response. Those individuals who were directly involved with these disasters and those who responded to them learned signifi cant lessons. Hopefully those of us plastered to our TVs watching the gut-wrenching account learned something as well.
