Abstract:
A dozen adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17 file into the windowless classroom. Youth their age should be laughing, joking around. Instead, they are somber. They’ve shown up for a program called Envision Your Future, which guides young people create a positive future. The idea is to help youth pursue their dreams in a way that is “bulletproof.” Silently, they take their seats in prescribed rows that mirror the structure that they follow in lock up.Keywords: self-reflection, self-motivation, Missouri model, Steward, Treating the Family/Facility Model
