Abstract:

Throughout the United States, local mental health, substance abuse, criminal justice, and human services systems struggle daily with the complex problems presented by adults and late age adolescents with co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness (SAMI). No Wrong Door is a model for the intersystem identifi cation and treatment of individuals with co-occurring SAMI disorders. It ensures a continuum of care in which services are available and accessible, no matter where or how an individual enters any one of four major systems it draws from. The mission is to create a welcoming, accessible, continuous, and comprehensive system of care that promotes recovery for individuals with SAMI co-occurring disorders.
