Abstract:
Many feel we need to make a choice, because there is a huge difference between the two. Both are necessary for the success of any organization. Management guru Stephen Covey says that effective leadership is doing the right things and putting first things first. One of my old bosses used to tell me that effective management is doing things right, having discipline, and carrying things out. When managing, you perform such activities as planning, directing, organizing, measuring, and controlling. When leading, you envision, inspire, coach, energize, and empower. Keywords: Subject-matter expert, vision, strategy, competence, performance
