Abstract:
Many who died from Covid did so in isolation, quarantined from family and friends. Research conducted by the authors of this article shows that more than 9 million people have lost a close relative (Verdery) to COVID-19 in the U.S. This dramatic rise in bereavement is troubling because their research also finds that COVID-19 bereavement not only increases people’s risk of depression (Wang, Verdery), but can make them uniquely vulnerable to mental distress. Keywords: Secondary Population Health Consequences of COVID-19 Deaths
