This article examines the rise of two new strains of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 called B.1.1.7 and B.1.351, and answers commen questions about their increased transmissibility, how their transmissibility translates into people’s day-to-day risk levels, and what they mean for vaccine effectivenss.Keywords: Coronavirus B.1.1.7 and B.1.351
