Abstract:

Our regular review of important court decisions includes two cases: In Murphy v. Wexford Health Sources Inc., 962 F.3d 911 (7th Cir. 2020), a federal appeals court upheld defendant Dr. Shah’s motion to dismiss, finding that he had not violated Murphy’s constitutional rights because there was a difference of opinion over the course of treatment that had not risen to deliberate indifference of Murphy’s medical needs; and Griffith v. Franklin County, Ky., 975 F.3d 554 (6th Cir. 2020), in which a pre-trial detainee who admitted during his intake that he had a history of drug use did not show that the medical staff was deliberately indifferent to his symptoms of withdrawal.
