Abstract:
The fact that one out of every three individuals living with the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the United States passes through a correctional facility in this country each year means that “[a] tremendous opportunity exists to treat HCV in correctional settings.” This article briefly reviews the barriers to price competition as explored in “Drug Purchasing Strategies to Treat People with Hepatitis C in the Criminal Justice System” by Matthew J. Akiyama, Rich Feffer, William H. von Oehsen III, and Alain H. Litwin, published in American Journal of Public Health. Keywords: Listening, reasoning, and understanding in nursing care
