Abstract: 

This article provides several useful strategies for dealing with some of the difficult patients encountered in correctional practice, including the demanding, non-compliant, whining, threatening, somatizing, malingering, and drug-seeking. Includes specific recommendations for angry patients, “splitting” patients, and threatening patients.
