Abstract: 

Our regular survey of important research findings reviews papers dealing with pregnancy outcomes in custodial settings; data on causes deaths in custody; and factors that may lead to weight gain during incarceration. Reviewed are “Pregnancy Outcomes in US Prisons, 2016–2017” by Carolyn Sufrin, Lauren Beal, Jennifer Clarke, Rachel Jones, and William D. Mosher, published in American Journal of Public Health (2019); “Deaths in Custody and Following Release” by Aaron D. Fox, Alia Moore, and Stuart Kinner, published in Journal of Health and Human Services Administration (2019); and “An Exploration of Reported Food Intake Among Inmates Who Gained Body Weight During Incarceration in Canadian Federal Penitentiaries” by Claire Johnson, Jean-Philippe Chaput, France Rioux, Maikol Diasparra, Catherine Richard, and Lise Dubois, published in 13 PLoS One e0208768 (2018).
