Abstract:

There is a large gap between current training efforts for educators and the realities that exist in the classroom. In addition, this disconnect between training and practice, coupled with the fact that teachers are rarely trained to recognize and manage their own mental health needs, may contribute to the high rate of attrition among teachers in their first five years of teaching (30% to 50% in the United States).
