Abstract:
The American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging monitors important court decisions, pending and enacted legislation, and regulatory developments in this regular feature. This issue’s column provides information about activities of Congress and the federal agencies from April 12, 2012 through August 9, 2012. Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) has introduced two bills entitled as the Stop Abuse, Violence, and Exploitation of Elders Act of 2012. A bill to reauthorize the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program , which supports law enforcement and justice system activities at the local, state, and federal levels, was introduced in the House on June 29, 2012. Representative Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) introduced the Senior Financial Empowerment Act of 2012.
