Abstract: 

Creators and publishers of nonconsensual AI-created images, known as deep fakes, will soon face stricter penalties after recent congressional approval of bipartisan legislation called the Take It Down Act. This article comprehensively reviews the act signed into law on May 19, 2025, including key provisions, criminal penalties, exemptions, and legal definitions and responsibilities.
