Abstract:
Amid rising domestic violence homicides and growing strains on victim services, what strategies offer genuine reason for hope? In this forward-looking and deeply practical article, leaders of Alliance for HOPE International outline six evidence-based priorities they believe can transform prevention and intervention efforts in 2026 and beyond. Drawing on survivor stories, national research, and decades of frontline experience, the authors make the case for expanding Family Justice Centers, prioritizing strangulation prevention, investing in trauma-informed programs for children, strengthening victim resources, confronting the hidden dangers of sexual choking, and improving suspicious death investigations. Offering both urgency and optimism, this article presents a roadmap for reducing violence, healing trauma, and building safer futures for survivors and their families. Keywords: Family Justice Centers; Strangulation Prevention; Trauma-Informed Care; Victim Services; Camp HOPE America; Domestic Violence Prevention
