Abstract:
This article reports on a research study examining the use of sexual assault medical forensic exams (SAFME) in investigations of sexual assault crimes. The study was designed to answer three questions: First, how do prosecutors and investigators view the usefulness of SAFME? Second, what is the relationship between using SAFME and the arrest and conviction of suspects? And third, does the relationship between SAFME and case outcome vary depending on the characteristics of a given case?Keywords: Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Exams
